History
Since 1984
The Missouri-Kansas-Texas “KATY” Railroad Company built the KATY Depot on North Main Street in 1904. The depot was no longer used in the 1970s and it was purchased by a community group in 1983 and moved to the current location to become the Galena Museum in 1984. The museum is located on the historic Kansas Route 66.
*Another name for lead is Galena, so our town was named after the mineral we mined.
